About the Jack Frost strain
Jack Frost is an albino strain of Psilocybe cubensis bred by Dave Wombat, who crossed his True Albino Teacher line with Albino Penis Envy. That True Albino Teacher line descends from Golden Teacher, so Jack Frost carries Golden Teacher genetics on one side and Penis Envy genetics on the other. It reached collectors around 2019, though some accounts date it to 2018. It’s said to have started out under the name TAPE, a blend of its parents’ initials, before the name Jack Frost stuck.
Both parents are albino, and so is Jack Frost. That’s why Jack Frost spores look pale instead of dark, since they carry little or no pigment. It’s one of the newest strains we carry. What Jack Frost looks like
Jack Frost is white from top to bottom. Young caps start out rounded, then open up, and as they mature their edges curl upward. The gills pick up a blue tint as they age, and the stems are often bumpy rather than smooth. Its spores range from white to faintly purple, so a Jack Frost print looks light and frosty instead of dark.
How Jack Frost compares
Jack Frost shares its pale spores with Albino Penis Envy, one of its parents. The difference is the build, since Jack Frost’s cap opens and turns up at the edge while APE’s cap tends to stay closed.
